"Janaina Leite's excellent book is a milestone in the study of scenic manifestations that resemble documentary theater and are little analyzed in the Brazilian context. (...) The author was able to formulate uncomfortable questions, which ended up serving as a motto for development of the study it presents to the reader. Among them, perhaps the most complex is the one that asks whether, in fact, there are possible ways of the real crossing the theater. It is important to emphasize that, in this case, it is not a matter of mere rhetorical doubt. or theoretical, a very common resource in academic works, but of disturbing questioning about a creative process that is a testimony of life "

Sílvia Fernandes

“Pioneer of the proposal for a documentary theater in the São Paulo scene, Janaína brings together recent examples of artists and groups, in Brazil and abroad, who have been developing variations around works whose raw material is the raw real, and in which lives and actions human beings are presented without a fictional patina. It also explains the dense creative process that was launched from this research program. Above all, the one that resulted in Conversation with My father stands out.

The reader is responsible for the pleasure and responsibility of reliving that experience, both for the analytical and retrospective look of this privileged narrator, as well as for the dramatic text that succeeds him, translating poetically what had previously appeared as a concept. ”
